New Item - The Boneyard
I've completed a new piece, based on a photograph called "The Boneyard" by UK photographer Mark Rowe. I have always been drawn to peaceful cemeteries, and an English cemetary in a churchyard was particularly interesting because of the fog. Mark's original photo was completely B&W, and I was torn between keeping it that way or adding some greenery.
What do you think? Does the green tree and grass add to the image, or detract from it?
Here's Mark's original photo, plus my rendering in glass:

I like both. Each has its attractions.
I like the color. Without it, the image is too bleak, cold.
I like both but would have eliminated the blob like green tree on the left and extended the foggy church. That would put the emphasis on the graveyard monuments.
Your work is awesome and I like your new stands! I've found display stands to be really distracting from the work too.
Would be nice to be able to purchase some better ones.
It took a few different prototypes to come up with a really good stand... one that is sturdy enough to hold a heavy glass object securely, but also one that does not detract from the art itself. I think these new stands will be the best of both worlds.
And, I'm having them powder coated in a matte silver (think brushed stainless) rather than black. The stand will therefore be light in color, and should work well with may of the grey shades I use. (The pictures you see here are the unfinished prototypes... the surface of the final product should be much improved.)
I'll take some pictures in the next few weeks and see how you like them!
